A VERY stitchy weekend!

In my last post I mentioned a stitching event that the Full Coverage Fanatics hosted over the Valentine day weekend. It was called “All you need is love” and the theme was to stitch on anything you felt signified love or an object or piece you loved. I chose The Gaze as it is a picture of a wolf. I LOVE wolves, next to the tiger I think they are my favorite animal. I also said that wolves are dogs, and who loves more unconditionally than a dog? A pet dog is the most loyal, loving pet ever. So I thought it fit the prompt.
Here’s where it was when I started:

Here’s after I put 1011 stitches into it over the course of 3 days:

I’m pretty happy with that progress. I don’t think I have ever stitched that much in a three day period before. It was nice and fun, but I really think I burnt myself out on stitching for a bit, it took me some time to be able to pick up any stitching after that!

But it helped me get quite a bit ahead on my stitch count for the 20 in 20 Challenge I’m doing for the Full Coverage Fanatics group on Facebook. I’m now so far ahead I don’t have to pick it up until March, and I won’t fall behind. Which is good because over the course of working so hard on this, I fell way behind on my National Park Challenge piece.  So now I’m trying to play catch up on that. And I’ve been focusing so much on it that I have yet to pick up my non-challenge pieces this month. Yikes! And there are only a few days left! We’ll see how this goes!
Hope you’re having a great day and I look forward to seeing you here again soon, for my monthly wrap up! Happy stitching!

Mermaid Tale Progress

Well, after I’d completed the 4000 stitches needed to finish the first park, I pulled out the piece I want to use for Park #2. Mermaid Tale.
Here’s where it was when I picked it up this month:

And!! I got a page finish a few days ago!! So happy about that. I was getting a little discouraged for a bit there at the end as all those stitches in the bottom right hand corner was a confetti nightmare! But I was able to push through and am now well into page 2.  I’m falling behind on my stitch count for this one, because besides the confetti jungle that slowed me way down, over the Valentines Day weekend, the Full Coverage Fanatics group hosted a stitching event during which I worked solely on The Gaze and got over 1000 stitches in on IT during the weekend. And I kinda burnt myself out and had a hard time getting back into any stitching at all for a few days after that.  But I am now starting to get in a good groove with this piece again.  I’ll share my progress on The Gaze in my next post.
Thank you for dropping in and thank you for all your lovely comments!  I really enjoy reading them all. I hope you’re having a great week and getting lots of stitches in!

Joyful stitching to you all!

1st Park finished!

I finished my first  parkfor the Full Coverage Fanatics FB group National Parks challenge:

That is 4003 stitches in on Emerald Forest. I really like the progress!!  Well 4000 stitches done. Only 16000 more to go to hit this tier of parks. Next I’ll be working on Mermaid Tale for my next park. I haven’t worked on it in a long time, so I’m excited to get it out and get some good progress on it for this Challenge. I hope to finish those 4000 stitches by March 14th. Wish me luck! Thank you all for your lovely comments!
Happy stitching!!

February Goals

I know this month will be busy, and a few days shorter than other months, but I would still like to get a good amount of things done. So here’s what I’m thinkin’:

1. Emerald Forest- 590 stitches to finish my 4000 stitch requirement for Parks challenge for FB group.
2. Mermaid Tale- 2530 stitches to start my next Park requirement.
3. The Gaze- 1595 stitches to keep up with my 20 in 20 Challenge
4. Spring Quilt- 600 stitches
5. Moose Ornament-500 stitches, (or a finish)
6. New ornament start if I finish the moose and still have not reached my 500 stitch goal.

We will see how this goes! But I’m excited to see how much I’m able to get done. Wish me luck!

January wrap up

This month was really productive. I feel great about what I was able to accomplish, even though I did fall short some of my stitch count goals. Oh well, better luck next time.

On Emerald Forest I was able to get a page finish and a good start on page 4. I was happy about that.
I did, however fall short of my 3410 stitch goal on this one. I was able to complete 3334 stitches, so I should easily be able to catch up and hit my 4000 stitch mark for this right on time on Feb. 6th. I only fell short by 76 stitches.

This one is Spring Quilt. I was able to get 382 stitches in on it this month. My goal for it was 600 stitches, so I fell short on this one by quite a bit. As I you will probably hear me say a lot this year....better luck next time!

This is The Gaze my piece for the 20 in 20 Challenge in the Full Coverage Fanatics group on Facebook. (Goal is to stitch 20,000 stitches in one piece over the course of 2020). My goal for this one was 1705 stitches for the month, and I surpassed it at 1746. So I’m really happy about that!! I attribute that to all those large blocks of orange at the very top. They were quick and easy to put in.

And lastly, I have this poor little guy, who I hardly picked up at all! I have a hard time making myself pick up these smaller pieces, when I’m trying to reach goals for my group challenges. So! I was able to complete all the cross stitching in this and start the back stitching. As you can see, the bull there is happily smiling at you. He’s so cute!! I can’t wait to get these cuties finished!! I was only able to get 158 stitches in on this. So I fell WAAAY short of my 500 stitch goal on this! Oh well! Say it with me....”Better luck next time!!” Since moving to Alaska I’ve become a bit obsessed with moose. They show up everywhere. The backyard, in the street, crossing the busy highways! It’s fun!

So that’s all I accomplished stitch wise in January. I’m Excited for February. It’s my daughters birth month, she turns 9 this year!! What?! Last year of single digits! However, I think it might have an effect on how much stitching I will get done. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I’m able to hit my goals.
Alright, that’s it for me today. Thank you for stopping by, and I will be posting a February Goals post soon. So you’ll all know what I’ll be trying to get done in February. Thank you all so much for your lovely comments and encouragement! I love hearing from you all!! Truth be told, I’ve really missed this blogging thing, and I’m really excited to be back!! As usual, guys, Happy Stitching! See yah soon!!
