Web of Life update!

I can hardly believe I am posting this on time! I actually had some time to get some stitching done the last coupla days. I worked on Web of Life. And was actually able to get a lot more done than I thought I would!

Well, we are now living in a nice hotel. This is the view from our 8th story balcony:
 It is really beautiful!
And here is my progress on Web of Life:

I got alot more done than I thought I would. And this morning I was able to get some work in on Tree Branch. I will share progress on that in about 5 days! See yah then!

Bolaven....ugh

I am sitting here as the first sheets of rain are pouring out of the sky. I live on the tiny island of Okinawa Japan, and we are waiting for Super Typhoon Bolaven to unleash it's wrath on us! It is to be the worst storm this island has seen in 13 years! Winds from 130-150 mph are expected to blow through starting later this afternoon, and all into tomorrow! Please pray for us.

We ARE safe here, as the buildings are built to withstand these storms, it's not like in the States where a storm is likely to ground entire counties. Here, as long as you stay indoors, you are pretty safe, even the windows are built to withstand the high winds, something like a windshield! We don't even have to board our windows, they are storm-ready!! I don't know what the next 48 hours will hold, if we'll lose power or anything like that, chances are we may lose it for a while, but as soon as this thing has gone past, I'll let you know how we fared!

My prayers go out to those who are looking storm Isaac in the face! I pray you all stay safe and have minimal to no damage to your property, etc.

My vacation

I know my title is very creative!! LOL...So, me and the hubs (and Alyssa of course!) just got back from visiting the mainland of Japan, where my Hubby's father lives! Which is why I've not been here posting lovely stitchy photos!
The first day there we went to this Art museum, as my hubby is taking an art class and one of his assignments was to go to an art museum. It was pretty nice! They had some Monet's and I think that's all the works I would recognize...haha!

On Tuesday we drove all day and arrived in the city of Nagoya, where we stayed the night and we ate here...yup, Denny's in Japan! Don't be fooled! There were only 2 things on the menu which one might ever see on an American menu...a sandwich and french toast!
My husband is 6 foot 2...look at how short the doorway to our hotel is!! He had to duck to get through!
We later came to find out that where we stayed was in a bad part of town...where the Japanese Maffia squats, and they own most the town....I was glad we only stayed one night!
Next we went to the city of Toyota...where there are 12 Toyota Car Plants. We wanted to try to catch a tour of one of them, but by the time we got there we'd missed the tours for the day, so came to this museum. I loved these stuffed tigers....it was hard to get a good picture of them, because of the glass encasing!
there we are on the outside of the museum! Pretty building!
We were on the road for 5 days, and when we got bored me and Alyssa played with the camera and practiced for her days as a model! LOL!
Next stop? Hiroshima. This is the city where America dropped the Atomic bomb that ended WW II. Here is the memorial. This is called the A-Dome. The bomb exploded directly above this building. They have kept it in the state it was in since then, as a reminder. They do restoration on it every three years or so, that's why there is a bunch of scaffolding there!
Down the street to the Castle of Hiroshima.
Alyssa fell asleep in her little carrier while we walked around all day! How do baby's do that?!
This was also a castle. It was completely demolished in the A bomb blast, but when they restored it they turned it into a museum, we weren't allowed to take photos inside though.
Except for this one...they had Samurai get up to try on and photograph.
When we finally got back to the hub's dads house, his step mom had a little birthday celebration for Alyssa...(her birthday's in a month!)
Before we left they kept telling us to bring jackets it was between 30-40 degrees there. I was hoping it'd snow while we were there....and it did!
Alyssa's first time in the snow...she wasn't sure what to make of it!
This photo was taken as we were flying in, this is mount Fuji. My husband hiked this the last time we came in Aug 2010, all the way to the top. You know this wasn't taken as we were leaving, there was TONS of snow on it then, and I was on the wrong side of the plane to get a picture when we left!

So, that was my vacation. We had some fun times. I know my last post said I was bored, I was just having a bad day I guess. I did enjoy most of it, but you know how it is after awhile you just wanna go home!

I will share stitchy photos very soon!

Hiding...

From all your blog rolls, that is!! Stop it, I tell you! Stop blog rolling all this wonderful stitchy blogginess! Don't you know, there are only 24 hours in a day?! And everytime I look at someones blog, I try not to, but sometimes, I can't help myself, I take a peek at their blog roll to see if there is someone I HAVE to keep tabs on, and my google reader is just getting FAT!! It needs to go on a diet! So for the love of my sanity!!! STOP posting all those lovely blogs! I don't have time to check them all out and that makes me sad! What if I miss something?!

I'm soooo kidding, of course!! This blogging thing is just about as addictive as the hobby itself! LOL...I love reading new (to me) blogs, and I keep finding more! It's a never ending journey!! LOL

Well, I wanted to also say I hope everyone out there on the east coast are doing all they can to stay safe from Irene! Don't try to be a hero, EVACUATE if they tell you to!! Do whatever you can to stay safe!!!

And while you are all batteling with Irene, we have a(nother) Typhoon on it's way here to our tiny Japanese island as well, slotted to hit on Tuesday or/and Wednesday...so we'll see what this one does! The last one took over 53 hours to pass through. During which we were all house bound....obviously since what idiot would really be out and about in 115+ mph winds? Hopefully no one!

I am going to be anxiously checking my google reader to hear from those of you on the East Coast, and knowing you're all ok!! Now go be safe!!

Category 2...

Our super Typhoon is loosing it's super powers...it went from a Category 4 to a 3, and now we are at a steady 2! The last one we had was a 2 also and while there was destruction, the lower the Category number, the happier, and safer I'll be!

And I still need to share progress on Howling at the Moon! I will, I promise! Just things are kinda crazy right now with this storm coming, whenever I go on the computer I'm just looking at the weather and tracking this storm. Plus I don't know if you've ever been in a situation like this, but if you have you know there is a certain amount of nervous energy that gets stored up.So, I find that I have not been able to settle to do much of anything, can't read, or stitch, I just pace alot or dabble in mundane house chores, and then check the computer again. But now that it doesn't seem like it's gonna be so bad, maybe I'll be able to get some things done.

Thank you again for all your good thoughts and prayers! They are greatly appreciated!

Howling at the Moon Progress and some Japanese Scenery

Well, I normally would try to update yesterday but I was soooo sick!! Sunday night I came down with something that had me up about four or five times during the night getting sick! It was horrible!! But this morning I am feeling pretty much my old self again. So I thought I would share some photos of my "new start" on page #6 for this project! It is really coming along now that I am actually stitching on it, if I can keep this up I may actually finish the entire thing this year...wishful thinking...I only have 4 more pages of stitching to do on it now!

And here is a photo of JUST the progress on page 6:

It is really amazing how much can actually be done when you sit and work on it! It goes pretty fast! I may be able to finish this page this month...we shall see...again, wishful thinking... and here is a photo of the beach here at Okinawa. This was taken at a resort called Okuma. It was overcast and cloudy the three days we were there, but the water still had that beautiful tourqoise quality to it, normally when it's that dark the water is also dark, but that day it wasn't.

Well, the little one is sleeping, so I am going to try and get the house in order (its amazing just how messed up a house can get when you are out of commission for even one day!) and then sit and stitch for a bit, see if I can get some more progress in on "The Tree Branch" so I can share a photo of it on Thursday.

Oh yeah and I did finish the little monkey piece in time to give to my friends when they came over for dinner the other night, but in my haste and hurry to have it put in the frame, I forgot to take a photo of the finished project... Hey! I had my first REAL finish of the year, and forgot to take photo proof! Dang it! Oh well.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Greetings from Okinawa Japan

Well, after long delays in Seattle, first due to bad weather and then to a mechanical problem, we finally made it to Japan! It is beautiful here! Lots of green stuff...grass and trees! The weather is a bit more hot and humid than I prefer, but thank goodness for Air conditioning!

I had alot of extra time for reading and stitching while I was delayed in Seattle, which was nice. I am going at a pretty good clip on BoInk. I have almost an entire quarter finished! Since I am using a community government computer at the hotel right now, I am not able to post photos yet, but we should have a house by the end of the week, and a shipment of stuff, which my hubby's computer is in, so should be able to show photos soon!

One thing I was really worried about was not being able to take my stitching on the plane, and I had NO problems at all!!! I ended up getting a clover cutter, so left the scissors in my checked baggage, and no one said a thing about the needle. Of course, we were traveling on military orders, and no one gives you any trouble if you have orders, it was the easiest air travel experience I have ever had!! It was great!

Tomorrow we have meetings all day about life here, and I think we get tested for our drivers license too, since they drive on the opposite side of the road here, we have to have a Japanese drivers license! So, tomorrow will be really busy!! Well, off to enjoy the nice evening weather, as it is too hot to be out during the day, so will be going out to exercise and such in the evening, or early mornings, unless I go to the gym, which is a long walk from the hotel.

Hope everyone is doing well, and getting lots of stitching in. I am slowly trying to get caught up on all the feeds in my googlereader...and from the look sof it, you guys have been stitching like crazy!! Talk to you later! Hopefully when I post again I will have photos to share!

May goals, and a rehash on last month

Well, thank you all for the encouraging comments, and after all that...the movers called my husband 3 minutes after he got home from work and informed him that they could not come today but needed to reschedule for next week! And that! Ladies and Gents is life as a military spouse! Just lovely!!! lol

Well, I don't know that I actually wanna make any sound plans for May, since we are getting down to the nitty gritty for the move...yup, less than 3 weeks!!!!! Wahoo!

Lets look at April shall we? how'd I do?

1) Finish Tombstone- DONE!!!
2) Get at least half of page 4 done on Howling at the Moon. (And finish up #5)-nope, didn't even pick this one up!
3) Put at least 2 hours in on The Abbey-Did more like 10 hours!
4) Put at least 1 hour in on CH4TH-Nope! didn't even look at it!

So, while i totally failed on two of my goals, I way over finished two! I fifnished Tombstone angel in March actually! And I know I worked on the Abbey for about 10 hours because I started listening to "The Lucky One" by N. Sparks on CD when I got serious about this one and the entire book was 10 hours long.

And I was so enthralled with The Abbey that I never even picked up CH4TH. I really should do that one of these days...however not this month.

This month:
1) Enjoy stitching
2) don't pull my hair out with stress from the move.

I know! that second one has nothing to do with Stitching, but thought I'd throw it in there anyway! =)

Last night I actually added alot of the blogs I read to my sidebar. And I visited alot of them and added myself to your public follower lists. If you want me to add your blog to my list, please let me know! I know there are alot more stitching bloggers out there who I have not gotten around to reading, and I would love to know what I am missing and then add you so I won't miss out on another post! So, PLEASE let me know, in the comments, just say "Add me, please" or something!!! Thankyou!

Hope you all have a stitchy fun weekend!

Things are getting better!

The past two days have been pretty good, I finally got a new job. I will be working 5-1 at night. But it is only about 20 hours! Which leaves plenty of time for stitching!!! And all the other things I love to do! And it will give us a little extra income until!.....drum roll....we move!!!! Hubby got orders!!! To....drum roll....JAPAN!?!?!?!?!

Hmmm...I can't get my head around it! I have never lived out of the country, can't decide to be excited or what? I am worried that I won't be able to get all the lovely stash I need...er want for the next three years! Now I am really thankful I stocked up on all that DMC floss! Plus I have a ton of stash so I think I should be good for three years. It is crazy though!

Well, tomorrow is friday and that means it's Progress Photo Friday...and boy DO I have PROGRESS to share...on not 1, not 2 or even 3 projects...but 5!!!! So will share that tomorrow! Thank you all for your friendship and comments while I was going through that rough patch the past week. I really appreciate it!
